I’m not sure if any of you subscribe to the Sunday Times, but on page 20 of the Style Magazine supplement today there was an incredibly sexist and offensive article entitled ‘Why you’re not married’. The article made me incredibly angry, so I thought I’d share some of the outrageous, misogynistic comments and encourage people to complain to the Times.

The article included subtitles answering the question of Why You Aren’t Married with ‘because you’re a bitch/because you’re crazy/because you’re a slut/because you’re selfish’. Within the first paragraph, there is the horrendous statement that ‘A girl can be…powerful, smart and interesting, but if she’s not sweet…guys will not really want to marry her.’ ‘Does the idea of having to be sweet make you mad? If it does then you have a problem’.

Furthermore it says ‘Men want to marry someone who is nice to them. Nice includes sex, laughing and occasionally folding the laundry or doing something he’s too lazy to do for himself…Is this you? If my asking makes you mad, the answer is probably not’.

If you read the rest of the article, I’m sure you’ll be as angry as I am about it!
