Okay so I put this:
The aims and objectives of the society shall be to support those who are affected by misogyny and women’s oppression, both in society and on campus, to provide a safe space for people to talk about and engage with issues that affect them and to organise campaigns to challenge these. The society will aim to unite people with similar ideological beliefs around gender equality, effect change in campus culture and promote the ideals of feminism.
The main activities of the society will be:
- Organising campaigns on relevant issues
- Having trips to events such as the Women of the World annual festival
- Holding or attending lectures on feminism and feminist issues
- Having socials and fostering a safe space for its members
To be honest, yeah this isn’t the most important because it’s just to convince the SU to let me have it. Still, bit nervous, because even just in casual conversation with one of the SU members last term, when I brought up the idea of a feminist society, I got a barrage of “WHAT ABOUT TEH MENZ?” and lots of serious assertions that I’m not allowed to keep men out because that would be sexist etc etc etc. Ugh, you just don’t get my feminism do you stopstopstop.
But yeah, thanks for your help everyone :)
